Tourism

Tourism -  Many people want meaningful travel.  They still want to relax, but they also want to learn and have different experiences.  This can be our opportunity to introduce the labyrinth, or to deepen the understanding of its role in community, health, education and culture.

We are exploring the possibility of two routes and one city (Ottawa) that offer labyrinth walks or programs that can be done alone or with a group.

We are at the starting gate and are requesting photos or posts that can build Ontario's Camino, Ottawa and Move over Provence.  See Tours for details.

We welcome posts about the Tourism Community, one day/afternoon adventures through Airbnb Experiences, Greeter Positions or in Chamber of Commerce sites.

We want to hear about speakers who present appropriate workshops/lecture followed by group discussions on: Building and using labyrinths in Education settings, wellness or mental health centers. Creating labyrinths that support eco landscape, gardening, Sacred Circle (medicine wheel, mandalas and the labyrinth) Designs: creating labyrinths, carpentry for holding plants.  Spiritual: Interfaith, or specific denominations, ministry or pilgrimage.

The experience of a labyrinth tour is enhanced if:

  • the accommodation has a labyrinth (canvas or permanent) on the site where participants can do morning / sunset reflections or workshops.
  • driving to different labyrinths is limited, highlights the region and participants have enough time to experience the labyrinth in a relaxed and unrushed manner.
  • Some groups may want the retreat/mindfulness experience and will not want to move from places - others will want the educational experience and will want to see a wide variety of labyrinths in community, hospital, educational and culture centers
  • options for individuals to do part or all of the trip (some labyrinths have scheduled walks on the same day, every month)
  • tips for other labyrinths that require further driving but can be done on own, with family or group.
  • grants have been used effectively by the Australian Labyrinth Network.  In Ontario there are grants for tourism activities through the Sparks program, Libro Credit Union in SW Ontario has excellent grants for community based project and The Labyrinth Society - Special Projects has grants and scholarships/
